The VQRP offers immediate assistance to help victims of violent crimes who cannot obtain it through other resources

Provide Financial Assistance for:

  • 1.Short-term immediate counselling services

  • 2.Funeral expenses for victims of homicide

3.Immediate emergency expenses for:
  • nCrime scene clean up of bodily fluids

  • nHome repairs to secure premises for immediate safety

  • nTransportation costs to identify victim of homicide or support a victim suffering serious injury as result of violent crime

  • nChild care and dependent care to enable family member to identify homicide victim or support victim of violent crime

  • nAccommodation / transportation & meal when there are is no secure area available

Service Priorities:
  • nHomicide (including attempted murder)

  • nSerious physical assault

  • nDomestic violence

  • nSexual assault

  • nHate crime

Eligibility:

 

  • nCrime occurred in Ontario, Victim resides in Ontario

  • nCrime reported to Police, Hospital, Shelter, Sexual Assault Center or VCARS

  • nApplication must be made within 14 days after the crime is reported

  • nThere are no other resources available to meet victims immediate need

  • nVictim is not charged in the reported occurrence
